ALBAWABA - Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said an urgent meeting is being held for the national security committee to discuss measures to be taken after India's border unrest.

"The meeting of the national security committee starts," the Information Ministry said on Thursday, after New Delhi's threats to punish gunmen responsible for killing 26 people in Kashmir.

India took some strict measures against Pakistan, a day after 26 people were killed after armed men opened fire at a Himalayan tourist attraction in Indian-administered Kashmir.

India's decisions include the closure of the main border crossing between India and Pakistan, in addition to suspending a landmark water-sharing treaty, expelling Pakistani diplomats and an order for some visa holders to leave within two days.

BBC reported, citing Indian officials and media, that the attack in Pahalgam was one of the deadliest in recent memory.

On Wednesday, the Indian army confirmed it had killed two men who were among the gang that opened fire in a tourism spot in Kashmir, killing at least 26 people and injuring dozens of others.

In a post on X, the Indian army stated, "The Chinar Cops-Indian Army X handle in a post confirmed the operation. The post stated, "Heavy exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists, two terrorists have been eliminated, infiltration bid foiled by the security forces in the ongoing Operation. A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores have been recovered from the terrorists. Operation is in progress."
