ALBAWABA - Pakistani security forces were able to free at least 155 people on a train which was attacked Tuesday reportedly by Baloch separatists in the southwest of the country.
At least 450 passengers were inside the train when the hostage-taking attack took place, security sources announced Wednesday, confirming that clashes with Baloch separatists led to the killing of 27 attackers.
AFP reported citing local authorities that the preliminary toll on Tuesday confirmed the death of three people; a policeman, a soldier, and the train driver.
For the past 20 hours, Pakistani forces have been trying to free the hostages and regain control of the train and the entire region after separatists targeted it.
The Balochistan Liberation Army, the main separatist group in this oil- and mineral-rich but still one of the poorest provinces in the country, blew up the railway track to force the Jaffar Express to stop.
