Oriental Singing Evenings at Al Ashrafiyeh Cultural Complex

Within the framework of the contemporary Arab art festival, organized by Yarmouk University and with the participation of the Culture Department at Greater Amman Municipality, al Ashrafiyeh Cultural Complex arranges three evenings of Arab singing and oriental music during the current week.

The evenings commence as of Sunday with a welcoming ceremony presented by Homs Syrian University, lead by artist George Ghareer, on Monday resume the celebrations with participation of two bands: Muneer Basheer for ‘Oud from Iraq directed by artist Sami Naseem, and Al Yarmouk University’s band for Arabic Music directed by Dr. Wael Haddad. The evenings are to be concluded on Wednesday, with a concert by Rainbow Syrian band, lead by artist Hussam Brimo. All the celebrations start at 7:30 pm.

Executive Director of Culture at GAM, Samer Khair, said that these evenings are part of the cultural joint framework executed by GAM with specialized cultural and artistic parties. The Department addressed this matter with the Dean of Arts Faculty at Yarmouk University, Dr. Mohammed Ghawanmeh,. Mr. Khair declared that participation in such distinctive artistic festival and presenting performances here, in Amman, for the first time 7 years ago, falls within the Department’s vision to motivate the community’s culture, with the participation of intellectuals and artists.

It is worth noting that GAM also hosts an artistic exhibition titled “Self Dialogue” by the Jordanian artist, Samer Abu Al Wafa, which will be open at 6:30 0n Monday evening. A Syrian theatrical performance titled “Lab 9” for the High Council of theatrical Arts in Damascus University, will take place at Jordan University’s theatre, at 12:00 on Tuesday noon.
