The Organizing Committee of the 18th Arabian Gulf Cup 2007 today revealed the identity for this sporting spectacular will be hosted in Abu Dhabi early next year. Held under the guidance of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 18th Arabian Gulf Cup Abu Dhabi 2007, the press conference was attended by Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithy, Tournament Manager and Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Media Committee for the 18th Arabian Gulf Cup 2007.
“We were naturally very proud and excited to host the 18th Arabian Gulf Cup event in the UAE once again and welcome all participating seven Gulf States,” said Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithy, Tournament Manager. “In the past, the UAE has successfully revolutionized the concept of hosting events by generating exceptional plans to support the Arabian Gulf Cups that were held in UAE in 1982 and in 1994. We are very confident that in hosting this 18th Arabian Gulf Cup 2007, the UAE will once again raise the bar in all aspects as a sporting destination.”
“Today, the Organising Committee is pleased to reveal the identity of the 18th Arabian Gulf Cup 2007,” said Al Rumaithy. “For every international event, a prominent identity is a valuable strategic asset and a symbol that remains memorable in everyone’s minds. The identity of this 18th Arabian Gulf Cup gives us, the Organising Committee, the opportunity to develop the image that will position the Arabian Gulf Cup among the world sports community. The identity launched today reflects an association that unifies the Gulf States, an identity that is modern, yet with traditional values, progressive, professional, and sports focused.”
The logo offers a modern, contemporary look. It is a symbol designed to reflect a falcon; the Arabic number seven that represents UAE’s seven Emirates and the hospitality towards hosting the seven Gulf States; and the ball representing sports that will be played in addition to football such as basketball, volleyball and handball. The UAE is reflected in the colours of the logo which are the colours of the UAE flag. The lettering style used is modern as the UAE is a modern country. The new logo will be supported by an advertising campaign, a website and merchandise that will create awareness and support the 18th Arabian Gulf Cup 2007.
“On behalf of all parties involved, I would like to thank everyone who is in the process of organising this major event in Abu Dhabi,” added Al Rumaithy. “We look forward to welcoming the games to the UAE to enhance the relationship among the Gulf States and allow the gulf youth to interact with one another in a sporting event that will boost a spirit of brotherhood.”
