ALBAWABA - During an attack the army in Chad carried out on an opposition party headquarters, an opposition leader was reportedly killed, according to reports by, Prosecutor Oumar Mahamat Kedelaye who gave public statements at a press conference on Thursday.
According to a Reuters witness, heavy gunfire was heard in the capital N'Djamena on Wednesday near the headquarters of Dillo's opposition party, following earlier fighting near the country's internal security agency building.
The violence erupted as tensions rose ahead of a presidential election in May and June, which could return the Central African country to constitutional governance three years after military authorities took power.
On Thursday morning, calm had returned to the city, and citizens were returning to work, but access to the internet, which had been cut off the day before, had yet to be restored, according to a Reuters witness.
