A court of appeal at the Egyptian city of port Said set free the Algerian investor businessman Mohammed Mawlay Edris Balhaj in exchange of a one million pound bail, the daily Al Gomhuria reported.

The court chief judge revoked a verdict of five year term jail and 20,000 pound in fine against him for eluding the customs department and failure to settle 69 million pounds in custom duties, the daily added

The court accepted the appeal of the defendant and ordered the formation of a tertiary committee consisting of experts from the Ministry of Justice to review the case file and to see whether the investor had smuggled foreign made goods into the country and failed to settle the customs duties dues -- Albawaba.com
