One day after the capture of Saddam Hussein, two car bombs exploded near Iraqi police stations. The first car bomb went off at a police station north of Baghdad, killing at least nine people and injuring scores, Iraqi police said.

The blast ripped through the Zuhour police station at Husseiniyah village, some 30 kilometers north of Baghdad, a police official told Reuters.

A second car bomb exploded outside a police station in western Baghdad, injuring at least seven people, locals said.

The blast in the Ameriyah district appeared to target the police force's bureau of criminal investigations. Seven people were seen being carried away from the scene minutes after the blast. According to the AP, thick smoke was seen rising from the scene, but the extent of the damage was not immediately clear.

A third car bomb was discovered outside a police station in Amiriyah neighborhood of the capital and sappers were defusing the explosives, reports said. (Albawaba.com)
