Omanis took to the streets after Friday prayers in protest of the Israeli attacks on Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Gaza, reported A-Jazira TV Channel.

Israeli helicopter gunships raided Thursday the West Bank city of Ramallah and the Gaza Strip, following the killing of two Israeli soldiers by angry Palestinians in Ramallah.

Shortly after the attack on Palestinian positions, Oman decided to shut its commercial representation in Tel Aviv and Israel’s trade office in Muscat.

The measure was taken "in line with the Sultanate's support of the cause of the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights," the ministry said in a statement carried by the official ONA news agency.

Palestinian Minister of International Cooperation Nabil Shaath welcomed Oman’s decision and urged other Arab countries to take similar actions, reported AFP.

"We welcome this step taken by Oman and we want similar actions from Arab countries and others," Shaath said – (Several Sources)
