The Sultanate of Oman will be the first Arab country to be featured in the Smithsonian Institution's annual Folklife Festival held on the national mall in Washington. A delegation from Oman joined Omani Ambassador to the United States Muhamed Ali Al-Khusaiby for the June 24 signing of the agreement making Oman a featured country for the 2005 festival.
Following the signing, Al-Khusaiby expressed his hope that Oman's participation in the festival will "contribute to exposing our culture in the United States at this very important juncture, this difficult time we are going through."
