Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Friday invited interim Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to Egypt for an official visit, Olmert's office announced. Olmert accepted the invitation, which was extended in a telephone call and the date of the visit was to be set next week, according to the Israeli side.

It will be the first meeting between Israeli and Egyptian leaders since February 2005.

Meanwhile, Olmert on Friday accused Syria and Iran of involvement in the Tel Aviv suicide bombing that took place Monday. "The order for the Tel Aviv suicide bombing came from Damascus and when the operation was complete the report went back to Damascus," Olmert told a visiting group of U.S. senators, according to his office.

According to the AP, Olmert added Iran and the new Hamas-led government bear responsibility for the attack.
