Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said Sunday that recent remarks made by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on Tehran's readiness to hold talks with US over Iraq indicated Iranian commitment to tranquility in the region.

"Iran has a clear stance on the issue (of holding talks with the US). It will consider Washington's formal request for negotiations on regional issues," he said, according to IRNA.

Asked about Iran's nuclear case, he said "What is raised as the country's stance on nuclear case originated from a consensus between officials of the Supreme National Security Council. "No change has occurred in Iran's nuclear stance. The issue of suspension of enrichment is not acceptable because it has no legal and rational basis."
