New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) concluded traffic awareness campaign, organized under the patronage of its Executive Chairman Dr. Mohamed Hussein, in Cambridge International Schools headquarter between the 1st and 4th, January.
The university stated that this campaign crowns the co-efforts and the programs’ which objectives and dimensions were studied and determined respectively, all along the previous semester. All under the objective of raising awareness among students for traffic safety. The traffic awareness campaign, in which the International Driver, Jordan Rally Champion, Amjad Farrah participated, aimed also at educating students about potential dangers ensued from traffic accidents.
Over a four days period, notable professional drivers and specialists shared with the students all the available information regarding traffic safety that should be considered. Such information would turn the roads to a much safer place for everyone.
The first two days of the campaign were devoted, by the organizing party, for discussing major issues regarding traffic and pedestrian’s safety, as well as precautionary procedures bicyclist should follow to ensure their safety.
The campaign’s third day agenda’s subjects revolved around precautionary procedures motorcyclists should follow. The university hosted Valero Motorcycle Riders team whom offered a realistic presentation outlining the truths about rational driving.
In the fourth, and final, day, Jordan Rally Champion Amjad Farrah participated in the campaign’s activities. He brought his own rally car to introduce students to its components. Also, he further emphasized the difference between Race Cars speeding at a race track, as well as misuse and faulty over-speeding practices some do in public transportation streets.
From his side, Mayor of Amman’s representative, Mr. Essam Shahzadah, praised this initiative and expressed his satisfaction with NYIT’s attempts to raise traffic awareness levels. He also handed prizes to participants.
As per the campaigns results, the organizing party stated that Hikmat Road Safety initiative decided to adopt NYIT’s awareness program and include it in the Framework of the National Safety Development Strategy, which is concerned with traffic safety.
It should be noted that this event is considered the second of its kind for the university. NYIT have organized a previous campaign for a full year targeting universities’ students between 18 and 25 years old. The university organized car exhibitions in all regions of the Kingdom, as well as filled out questionnaires on correct and incorrect road safety practices.
