ALBAWABA - According to the Russian embassy in Pyongyang, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui has flown to Russia to attend the fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum and the BRICS Women’s Forum in Saint Petersburg.
"Russian Ambassador, Alexander Ivanovich, Matsegora saw off North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui at the Pyongyang International Airport," the embassy said in a post on its Vkontakte social network.
The embassy stated that the minister's talks and participation in discussions are scheduled for the event, which will take place from September 18 to 20.
Valentina Matviyenko, speaker of Russia's Federation Council, said in June that delegates from around a hundred nations will attend the meeting. Russian President Vladimir Putin has attended prior forum sessions, but the Kremlin has yet to confirm his presence in this year's event.
"We will strive to ensure a record foreign representation in the entire history of the Forum," Matviyenko said in June, according to a transcript provided on the Council’s website.
Warming relations between the two nations hit a new high this year when Putin inked a pact with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un that included a mutual defense vow during a visit to Pyongyang.
