Nokia N96 – The icon of convergence has arrived to Saudi

• Masterpiece of convergence includes notebook features coupled with outstanding video and camera capabilities matched by connectivity

Nokia, the global leader in mobile communications, said its much-anticipated Nokia N96 multimedia computer will be available in Saudi Arabia end of September. Heralding a new dawn in convergence, the Nokia N96 delivers an unparalleled mobile experience.

Cutting-edge technology meets intelligent design in the N96, providing users with advanced entertainment options including live TV, 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, turn-by-turn voice navigation, up to 32GB of memory, superior sound and music, N-Gage gaming and spectacular 2.8” display together in one device. The Nokia N96 also has an enhanced navigation experience that includes rich, easy-to-use maps with urban detail as well as satellite views.

Mohammed Hassan, General Manager, Nokia Saudi Arabia, said: “The N96 is our most advanced multimedia computer to date. It is a force to be reckoned with, combining outstanding video and camera capabilities, music playing, navigation and internet connectivity to the next level. The pioneering dual slider design blends phone and multimedia options seamlessly so it makes discovering and sharing experiences effortless.”

“Quite simply, the Nokia N96 is simply in a league of its own,” Hassan said. “It redefines mobile entertainment, allowing you to do everything from taking a picture, geotagging it to a specific location to accessing YouTube videos using the fast internet browser and watching live TV.”

Supporting live TV (DVB-H) as it becomes available, the Nokia N96 delivers advanced television viewing across a number of channels.  It is even possible to record favourite programming to play back anytime and anywhere.

Across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Nokia N96 comes pre-loaded with the movie ‘Transformers’.  Users will feel part of the action as the movie erupts through the large, bright 2.8” display and built-in 3D stereo speakers. They can also sit back and enjoy the special effects hands-free, thanks to a cleverly designed 'kickstand' on the back cover.

The Nokia N96 has the ability to store up to 40 hours of video content either transferred from a computer or found online at the Nokia Video Center via hi-speed USB 2.0 connection with WLAN and HSDPA support.  This blockbuster-packed application offers access to a massive variety of video content ranging from movie trailers and comedy to news from world-leading content providers such as YouTube, Reuters, and Sony Pictures.  The Nokia N96 supports common video formats including MPEG-4, Windows Media Video and Flash.

Those who want to create their own short films can utilise the N96’s 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED Flash that captures sharp, defined images and DVD-quality video clips at 30 frames per second.  The content can be geotagged instantly to record the location and uploaded directly to online communities.

The N96 also features voice activated turn-by-turn navigation along with the new City Guides, a a great way to explore undiscovered places. As a special bonus for the region, the N96 comes with local maps, and three months of free voice guided navigation across the Kingdom.

The Nokia N96 boasts an advanced music offering.  With an internal 16GB memory that can be increased to 32GB with microSD card, the Nokia N96 can hold a music collection to rival even the most dedicated fan. It also offers to create personal music playlists by downloading tracks or synchronize PC and mobile libraries via USB charger.  Alternatively, N96 users can enjoy RDS radio or a wide selection of stations via the internet.

To make the mobile experience even more personal, the Nokia N96 can be customized with a wide range of tailored content including an outstanding selection of world-class branded entertainment and personalization content via the Nokia Download!

Meanwhile, Nokia also launched the N79 & N85, each offering its own strengths in the high-performance mobile multimedia category.

The Nokia N79 packs cutting-edge technology into a compact design – a characteristic of the iconic Nseries – that allows people to discover, create and share their passions with others. It has been designed for those who want a device that is as appealing as it is powerful and comes with interchangeable covers that have automatically matching screen themes. This balance of performance and style means that it is a powerful and defining step forward from the popular and very successful Nokia N72 and Nokia N73.

The Nokia N85 offers a complete mobile entertainment package designed for connecting, sharing and discovering. The iconic Nokia Nseries dual slider design has evolved to become smaller and sleeker while integrating the newest features and services to deliver the best mobile experience to date.

All three new N-series phones will be available at leading retailers across Saudi Arabia from end of September 2008.
