Advanced technology is the prevailing theme across the complete line-up of Nissan vehicles for 2008. Nissan has consistently led the industry with technological advances, and its latest range of models introduces a series of ‘firsts’ in both the sedan and SUV ranges, as well as industry unique break through technologies in its “super-car”, the Nissan GT-R.
“Nissan is constantly striving towards developing its products with a high level of style and technology. Our technologies cater for the drivers’ and passengers’ convenience, safety and environment. We are pleased to roll out some of Nissan’s innovative technologies imbedded in the 2008 models,” said Toru Hasegawa, Managing Director of Nissan Middle East.
Star of Nissan’s technology is the GT-R sports car which is making only its second world appearance in Dubai after being first revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show. The Nissan GT-R alone has a lengthy list of high-tech developments, including the world’s first independent trans-axle 4WD system, with a 480 hp, V6 3.8-litre twin turbo engine with automated manual transmission.
“Some of the latest innovations are common to all the 2008 models on show. Each has its own unique advances; together, they clearly demonstrate how Nissan leads the technological field.”
Among the Nissan innovations are Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), ‘Intelligent Key’ with push button ignition, Bluetooth hands-free phone, Nissan’s Navigation system, rear-view camera, iPod connectivity, DVD, and breakthrough BOSE audio systems with MP3/WMA capability.
As Nissan is known for being the most expanding and leading manufacturer of CVT applications, the new generation Xtronic CVT is designed to create a true synergy between engine and transmission with smooth, responsive, fluid-feeling performance and efficient operation. Likely, Xtronic CVT is available in Nissan Altima Sedan and Coupe, Qashqai, and Murano.
Both Nissan Altima and Altima Coupe benefit from Push Button ignition. Many 2008 models benefit from Intelligent Key and integrated Bluetooth, which provides a safer driving experience with a hands-free system for mobile phones.
State of the art Nissan Satellite Navigation systems with rear-view camera provide the Nissan Armada and Pathfinder with the means to help guide their drivers in the right direction.
Drivers looking to connect their iPods/MP3 players to in-car entertainment systems will be pleased to find direct connections in the Nissan Altima sedan and coupe, Armada and Pathfinder and enjoy the Bose audio system. For full audiovisual in-car entertainment to travel in style, the family cars Nissan Armada and Pathfinder deliver with integrated DVD players.
The safety of vehicles is of paramount importance as Trust is a brand pillar for Nissan. This is why Nissan has implemented a range of innovative technologies to maximise safety. Examples of this include the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to ensure stability and prevent tyre damage.
Together Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) as well as the stability and traction provided by Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS) enables drivers to instantly react to changes in road conditions without causing loss of control.
Should a collision be unavoidable, car occupants can rely on the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) for protection, to shield against harm.
