Nine people were killed Monday after two separate roadside bombings that targeted police vehicles in Afghanistan, AFP reported.
A police patrol pickup truck hit a roadside bomb north of Kabul, killing four policemen and two civilians, said Gen. Mohammad Farid Afzali, Kabul police and criminal investigation chief. Another explosion in the northern province of Baghlan, where three more police officers died, provincial police chief Aminullah Amarkhil told AFP.
There was no immediate claim for the attacks, but the Taliban has commonly been using roadside bombs against Afghan forces.
Casualties among Afghan troops have increased since US forces began pulling back from the country, according to AFP. While American soldiers are no longer on the front lines fighting in Afghanistan, the US has slowed down its withdrawal to help train Afghan troops.
