Nexus Senior Financial Consultant, Ruby Celly, has been recognised for her commitment to positive social change in India by one of the country’s most prestigious humanitarian organisations, the Navjyoti India Foundation (NIF).

Ruby was awarded NIF’s Certificate of Appreciation for her on-going support of the foundation’s remedial education programme at a recent ceremony in Dubai, where she met NIF founder, Dr. Kiran Bedi, India’s most famous female police officer.

“It is with great pride that I accept this honourable award. The NIF has been doing such notable work, and making a remarkable impact in the humanitarian field for over two decades now. They impact the lives of over 12,000 individuals across India, and I am delighted to have helped touch some of these lives as well,” said Ruby.

Dr. Kiran Bedi, who was India’s first and highest ranking female police officer, founded NIF along with 17 other police officers more than 20 years ago, with the aim of helping their local community by setting up a drug rehabilitation programme.

Since these small beginnings, NIF has grown to a 500 member organisation and has expanded its scope of work to cover a wide range of projects that work for positive social change. It supports schemes in education, female empowerment, family counselling, as well as rural and urban development across India.
