A new reformist daily newspaper "Etemaad", or "trust" in Farsi, appeared on news stands in the Islamic republic of Iran Sunday.

Elias Hazrati, who belongs to the reformist party Hambastegi, heads the newspaper.

In the last two years, Iran's conservative-dominated judiciary has shut down 22 reformist papers and sent more than a dozen journalists to prison, according to AFP.

Tehran has 45 daily newspapers, however the emergence of new reformist papers is rare. (Albawaba.com)
