Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh issued on Saturday a presidential decree No. 8 of 2007 assigning Ali Mujur to form a new government. Mujur, born in 1953 in Shabwa governorate, was Electricity Minister in the former cabinet.
According to SABA, he is holding a PH degree in production management from French Grenoble University in 1991.
Mujur will replace Abdul Qadir Bajamal, who had served as Prime Minister since March 2001.
According to the AP, Mujur has two weeks to form a new Government and must present the new Government's program to both the President and the Parliament for approval.
Yemen has been suffering from rampant corruption and ailing economy - two things, which will top Mujur's cabinet agenda.
