new jaquet droz line at damas combine magic of nature with hope latest collection crafted in a strictly limited edition series
The magnificent new collection of Jaquet Droz watches promise to amaze watch lovers at Damas, leading retailer of stylish watches and jewellery in the Middle East, due to their stupefying heritage of mechanical figures, presented first to King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, Queen of France. Today, this fabulous history continues to inspire the manufacture's ingenious craftsmen in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
To win the connoisseur's confidence, Jaquet Droz mobilises all of its technical and creative forces, starting with the self-winding mechanical movement, the smooth-polished steel case finished by hand, the cambered crystal and the engraved crown. It is as if, in making these watches, the craftsmen at Jaquet Droz had but a single obsession: to combine the magic of nature with the hope engendered by the rebirth of each month. These beauties echo the words of Aristotle, uttered over 2,000 years ago: ‘Hope is a waking dream’.
Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director of Damas, said: “Since the 18th century, the magnificent creations of Jaquet Droz have figured as consummate expressions of watchmaker's art. Its founder Pierre Jaquet Droz amazed the courts of Europe with his stupefying mechanical figures and presented his timepieces to royalty. The latest collection has achieved harmonious perfection with exceptional mechanisms inside. Through the beauty of the new models and the intense emotions they procure, expressed through their limited edition timepieces, Jaquet Droz powerfully proclaims its love and respect for watchmaking as well as for its clientele.”
This winter, Jaquet Droz has introduced three exclusive lines which are La Date Astrale, La Ligne Noir Absolu and La Petite Heure Minute Paillonnée. In a masterful reinterpretation of solar and lunar magic, Jaquet Droz launches La Date Astrale, a new watch with a retrograde date complication symbolising hope and new beginnings. La Date Astrale is an exclusive new model with a retrograde date function, showing superlative modernity, design and mechanical performance which gives this exceptional watch its distinctive boldness. Yet, at the same time, it remains true to brand codes.
In keeping with its avant-garde spirit, Jaquet Droz is launching this new line Noir Absolu to measure the passion of fleeting time, through the interplay of divergence and convergence, against a background of dark beauty showing the first elements of a movement with great aesthetic mystique. The enamelled dials are like an outer reflection of the technical treasures inside these timepieces.
An enameled watch, La Petite Heure Minute Paillonnée is a masterpiece crafted in a strictly limited edition of eight. The brand pays tribute to its master-enamellers who have succeeded in executing this ‘paillonné’ enamel dial to perfection giving a new lease on life through its contemporary creations to fast disappearing forms of craftsmanship, some of them going back thousands of years, such as enamelling.
Tawhid concluded the new lines are a marvel, a fusion of tradition and modernity in which canons of beauty take precedence over physical laws. “Showing a feat of technical prowess bearing the Jaquet Droz signature - these models have pushed back the limits of excellence. They are becoming a standard-bearer for this legendary brand, admired by all connoisseurs who know the value of time.”
The new models will be available in November at Damas Les Exclusive Boutiques located in Saks Fifth Avenue, Burjuman; Emirates Towers; Burj Al Arab; and Mall of the Emirates.
