A new global grouping met for the first time Thursday and Friday in Rome to develop measures against Daesh (ISIS) financing, AFP reported.
The group is called the Counter-ISIL Finance Group (CIFG), meant to exchange information among countries to cut off Daesh funding systematically. The discussions were led by officials from the US, Saudi Arabia and Italy, among a total of 23 countries as well as the EU.
Of the Arab nations, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, the UAE, Turkey and Kuwait are participating.
The next CIFG meeting will be in Saudi Arabia in May.
