New Approach’s season began at Newmarket Racecourse five months ago and on Saturday afternoon the three-year-old returned there to claim the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes (Gr.1).

Trained in Ireland by Jim Bolger and ridden by Kevin Manning, the Derby winner was always in control of the race and took up the running from pacemaker Upton Grey with three furlongs left to run. Owned by Her Royal Highness Princess Haya, New Approach ran on to a six length win and in doing so broke the racecourse record for a mile and a quarter by over a second.

Earlier in the day, All The Good, from the Emirates-sponsored Godolphin stable, landed the Caulfield Cup in Melbourne, Australia, under big-race jockey Kerrin McEvoy. All The Good will now be aimed at the Emirates Melbourne Cup on 4th November.

Emirates is a leading sponsor of horse racing around the world; in addition to the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes, the award-winning airline is title sponsor of the Dubai World Cup, the world’s richest race, and the Emirates Melbourne Cup. Emirates is also an Official Partner of the Breeders’ Cup World Championship, which this year takes place in Los Angeles, the city that will become Emirates’ newest destination on 26th October.
