ALBAWABA - Incumbent Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his top priority when he assumes his duties is to establish full diplomatic relations with regional Arab powerhouse Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to Al Arabiya, Netanyahu said it would of "paramount" importance to normalize relations with Riyadh, "which would be a quantum leap toward ending the Arab-Israeli conflict and that would change our region in ways that are unimaginable."

He did not refer to the Palestinians and appeared to assume that Saudi Arabia would want to establish relations with Israel. Riyadh had said that full diplomatic ties with Israel will come after a final peace deal is concluded with the Palestinians.

Netanyahu has not taken the reigns of power yet. He has until Dec. 21 to form a coalition government. He has already asked Israeli president Isaac Herzog for a 10-day extension, which has expired on Dec. 11. He said he needs another extension to put together a coalition government expected to be the most extremist, so far.
