ALBAWABA- Amid escalating tensions following the reckless Israeli assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, U.S. President Joe Biden urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to de-escalate the situation.

During a tense phone call, Biden emphasized the importance of reaching an agreement on hostages and a ceasefire in Gaza.

He warned Netanyahu that escalating the conflict could jeopardize U.S. support, stating Washington may not be able to intervene if the situation worsens.

Netanyahu, however, asserted Israel's security priorities, stating he would act according to Israel's needs despite U.S. concerns.

This conversation left American officials with the impression that Netanyahu was keeping Biden in the dark about potential further actions, including targeted assassinations.

Biden reiterated the need for regional stability, even if the outcome was not perfect.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, in discussions with his American and British counterparts, emphasized the necessity of forming a united front against Iran and its allies.

Gallant highlighted the critical juncture for Israel's security strategy, particularly concerning the recovery of hostages. The situation underscores the complex dynamics between the U.S. and Israel as they navigate a volatile regional crisis.
