NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Monday ruled out a military action against Syria. "NATO has no intention [to intervene in Syria] whatsoever. I can completely rule that out," Rasmussen was quoted by Reuters as saying on a visit to the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi voiced hope in Baghdad Monday that Syrian developments would end well. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Salehi said Syrian developments can provide people’s legitimate demands under President Bashar Assad's governing administration.

“Any possible power vacuum in Syria will have unpredictable results,” he continued.
