The Lebanese Resistance Hizbullah on Tuesday denied local press reports that a partial deal had been reached through a German mediator on a prisoner exchange with Israel.
A statement quoted the party’s secretary-general, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, as saying that Hizbullah’s position on “this important issue” was well known, and accordingly, “there is no truth at all in these reports.”
According to the Lebanese Daily Star, the reports appeared earlier this week in the Arab daily A-Nahar spoke of an imminent partial agreement stipulating that Hizbullah in the first phase provide information on the condition of three Israeli soldiers and a reserve officer abducted by Hizbullah in October 2000, in return for the delivery of maps detailing the mines left by Israel in the South.
A German mediator had held many meetings with Hizbullah to facilitate a possible exchange. (Albawaba.com)
