Nashwa Al Ruwaini has recently been honoured by Dubai Police for tackling important social issues through her weekly talk show ‘Nashwa’, broadcast on Dubai TV every Monday at 22:30.
Dr. Mohammed Murad Abdullah, Manager of the Decision Making Support Center of Dubai Police, presented Nashwa with the award from the Dubai police department during the filming of an episode of her talk show in Cairo in which he was a guest.
Through her talk show, Nashwa has always uncovered issues that are vital to discuss in society with a special emphasis on women’s issues in the Arab World. Recently, Nashwa has highlighted the effect of the economic crisis on Arab countries, the effects of rape laws on women in the Arab World, abuse that is prevalent but hidden in society and autism. In each episode of ‘Nashwa,’ both ordinary people and experts are invited to appear on the show to tell their story and provide expert analysis on the topic discussed.

‘Nashwa’ is a weekly, self-titled televised talk show broadcast on Dubai TV and presented and produced by Nashwa Al Ruwaini herself. Nashwa has been voted best female presenter for five consecutive years from 1998-2002 by various Arab newspapers and magazines and most recently has won the prestigious Feigenbaum Leadership Award and was awarded the Gold prize at the Tenth Gulf Radio and Television Production Festival held in Bahrain for her show ‘Nashwa’. She was also nominated for ‘Best Entertainer’ at the 2008 Rose D’Or Awards in Switzerland.
