ALBAWABA - Palestinian journalist and Photographer Motaz Azaiza posted a video showing civilians in the Gaza Strip walking on their feet with their hands up to move from one place to another.
He wrote: "Gazans leaving the city with their hands up in front the Israeli army." In the clip, people in Gaza were seen carrying white cloth as a sign of peace as they walked past Israeli forces.
A pro-Palestinian activist wrote on Azaiza's video: "Is quite obviously a genocide, if you don’t see that then you’re agreeing with it."
Meanwhile, the video has reminded many human rights advocates of what happened during "NAKBA 1948," where an estimated 700,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled from their lands on their feet.
A few days ago, female Palestinian journalist Plestia Alaqad also shared footage of herself walking with dozens of people in Gaza with their hands up as they walk by Israeli forces.
In an interview with AJ Plus, Al Jazeera correspondent Youmna El-Qunsol told Dena Takruri that people heading to the south in Gaza walk on their feet for at least 6 to 7 kilometers and they are not allowed to carry anything with them.
El-Qunsol added: "Basically walk this distance while we raised our hands to show that we surrender."
Israel has warned more than one time Gazans who are living in the north to move and leave to the southern part of the strip amid ongoing Israeli bombardment as the war against Gaza enters its second month.
On Monday, The Israeli army reaffirmed that it will open a corridor for civilians in Gaza to head south, Anadolu Agency reported. "For your safety, take advantage of the time to move south beyond Wadi Gaza," Avichay Adraee, the army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, said.
According to data, at least 1.1 million people were living in the north of the Gaza Strip.
The death toll in Gaza, according to the Ministry of Health, has jumped on Wednesday to reach 10,569, including 4,324 children.
