We had positive discussions with many exclusive retailers which will create new business opportunities and enable our customers in the UK and Europe to buy our unique original pieces”
IJL, which completed its 50th edition, provides the industry with an unrivalled business platform and has gone from strength to strength since its launch in the Royal Albert Hall in 1956. With attendance up 7.5% on last year, visitors were inspired by the very best in jewellery, finely crafted watches, precious and semi precious gems and the jewellery related products on show
Nadia Dajani, the founder of Al Bareeq Jewellery Trading Company, showcased some of her key collections at the International Jewellery London IJL 2006. The Jewellery featured original pieces inspired by the spirit of the east; the Salam (peace) collection, the Copper collection as well as the Charms & Amulets collection.
“We were excited to showcase some of our key collections including the Salam, Copper as well as the Charms and Amulets in the world’s leading Jewellery exhibition. The association with IJL will go a long way in attracting and building an impeccable quality of clientele for the company,” Nadia added.
The “Salam” Peace collection finds its inspiration in the vitality of the symbolism of the written word, and in the art of Arabic calligraphy. Words that are of significance to people regardless of their religion, nationality or age are engraved on the silver charms using Arabic calligraphy. Garnets, pearls and semi precious stones are held together with silver and leather.
“The Salam collection comes in reaction to the troubled times we live in, and seeks to spread, through our original pieces, common shared values to people of all denominations and dispositions all over the world: peace, happiness, friendship, good health, blessings, prosperity – all written in beautiful Arabic calligraphy, making up a whole collection of contemporary jewellery both in silver and 18k gold. “
The delicate Copper collection comes from the legendary copper mines in southern Jordan and is hand made by combining beads with semi precious stones to produce contemporary necklaces, scarves, and bags that are a reminder of various aspects of the local culture and heritage.
The Charms and Amulets collection is inspired by the ancient Middle Eastern traditions and concepts of magic, luck, and guardianship, and embraces traditional symbols of protection and superstition using silver, semi precious stones, pearls and gold. This collection includes various pieces like the magic square, the evil eye, and the Turquoise Stone.
