Nadia Dajani to Hold an Exhibition at Blue Fig Café
In yet another endeavor by Jordanian artist and jewelry designer Nadia Dajani to deliver the message behind her designs to the public, the Nadia Dajani design house is preparing a new exhibition for Dajani's latest illustrations, to be held in Blue Fig Café.
In a bouquet that is the first of its kind, the exhibition will be in two phases. The first phase will attempt to aesthetically emphasize to the viewer the inspiration behind these works, which have become recurrent thematic elements throughout Dajani's artistic journey. These elements mainly preside in the healing properties of a wide array of semi-precious stones, and Dajani implements this concept by using illustrations of amulets and talismans that draw from ancient Middle-Eastern folklore, in which such designs are regarded as an ethereal form of protection that surrounds one's aura and keeps it in tact.
This concept grew tremendously as Dajani began to implement it, with greater focus leaning towards the connection to the physical with the metaphysical. She began moving slowly toward Arabic calligraphy as both an artistic and a spiritual concept, instilling timeless phrases of heritage that emphasize kindness and goodwill. The idea, as told by our Middle-Eastern forebears, is that our thoughts determine the paths that our lives will take, and thus surrounding oneself with positive thoughts and vibrations are elemental for leading a good life. Dajani believes that, through her illustrations, one is not only able to surround one's self with them but to project them upon others as well.
When it comes to the art of Nadia Dajani, in all her exhibitions and major events, the conception behind the work has always been as strongly emphasized as the design itself and the final product. This exhibition is the first of its kind, as Dajani is the first designer in the Kingdom to showcase her work in a modern café.
"The reason I chose Blue fig is that, in their long-standing commitment to classiness, which also emanates from the cultured clients the café attracts, I am certain my designs will be in good hands," said Dajani. "I am also certain that the work will communicate with tastes that will understand and appreciate the art and effort behind it."
The second phase of the exhibition will showcase the products of Dajani's recent collaboration with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), which has become one of the most shining examples of corporate social responsibility and environmental awareness. In this collaboration, Dajani attempted to instill her love for nature in the works, finding inspiration in the forests and fauna of Jordanian landscapes. The final products were simply spellbinding. Dajani also collaborated with RSCN to create several jewelry collections, the production process of which took place entirely in workshops that employed local women with no formal education, all of whom were given additional and specialised training by Dajani herself to become more expert in their craft.
Blue fig's Operations Manager Ala'a Hijazi expressed is joy that an artist as prominent as Dajani chose Blue fig for such an event, saying that "Dajani has become an icon, both domestically and globally, and we are beyond joyful to host her wonderful creations in our branches. At Blue fig, we have always endeavored to make the café an outlet for the best of what Jordanian artists have to offer, and this is the first time we showcase art with such breathtaking beauty in an avant-garde style."
The exhibition will continue throughout the month of July, and the jewelry will be showcased in various locations at Blue Fig café, in both its branches in Abdoun and Mecca Mall. Some of the items showcased will be available for sale.
