Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf hailed on Saturday the high level of relations with the United Arab Emirates, during a meeting with the outgoing the UAE ambassador to Islamabad, Mohammed Attiq Al Qamzi.
Musharraf conferred the award of Hilal-i-Pakistan on Qamzi in appreciation of his contributions to strengthening UAE-Pakistan ties, reported the official WAM news agency.
Qamzi has been widely praised in Pakistan for his efforts to boost relations between the two countries and for his supervision of economic and social projects carried out with the help provided by the president, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to the people of Pakistan, said the agency.
President Musharraf hailed the high level of relations between the UAE and Pakistan and said that he had high regard for President Sheikh Zayed, WAM said, citing a statement. Qamzi said he had conveyed to Musharraf greetings of President Sheikh Zayed.
He said he had exchanged views with the Pakistani leader on current situation in the region and UAE's efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Pakistan to meet any future challenges.
He said there had been an increase in joint investments, and cited the example of $1 billion refinery and oil pipeline projects, WAM added – Albawaba.com
