Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak arrived in Kuwait Sunday for talks with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Al Sabah.
The visiting president, who arrived from the UAE, discussed with Kuwaiti officials the current global situation and exchanged views on the US-led war against Afghanistan in light of the international anti-terror campaign, Kuwait’s official news agency (KUNA) said.
The talks also touched “all issues of concern to our Arab and Islamic nations and the world in addition to bilateral ties," said Egyptian Information Minister Safwat Al Sherif.
Sherif was quoted by the agency as saying that the Egyptian leader and the Kuwaiti prince “insisted on the need to fight terrorism without hurting civilians and without spreading the war against Afghanistan to other Arab or Muslim countries."
"They also agreed on the need for joint Arab action to end the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.”
The Egyptian minister told KUNA that both sides shared a common view, calling for a more active international role in the peace process and efforts “to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians.”
He said that Sheikh Saad underlined keenness to expand Egyptian-Kuwaiti cooperation in the economic and tourist spheres in particular.
