MPDA Holds Press Conference to Announce The ‘Ajman Urban Planning Conference’

The Ajman Municipality and Planning Department (MPDA) in the UAE held a press conference to announce the ‘Ajman Urban Planning Conference’ which will be organized on 19-20 February, 2007 at the Kempinski Hotel in Ajman, UAE. The press conference was attended by H.E. Ali Bin Abdulla Al Hamrani, Director General of MPDA; Mr. Mohammed A. Bin Omair Al Muhairi, Head of Planning and Survey Dept (Head of AUPC Committee) and Ali Al Kamali, MD of Datamatix Group.

In his keynote speech, H.E. Ali Bin Abdulla Al Hamrani, Director General of MPDA, first expressed his appreciation for the complete support extended by His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuami, Ruler of Ajman in organizing the event aimed at promoting sustainable development in the Emirate of Ajman.

H.E. Ali Bin Abdulla Al Hamrani, while speaking on the significance of such a conference said, “The challenges in urban planning are many, but one of the most important and most relevant to the Emirate of AJMAN and the United Arab Emirates is the rise of Vertical Urbanism. The spatial dimensions of urban space are in transformation and the rise of sky high cities poses many challenges related to sustainable development, urban design, infrastructure, transportation, neighborhood development and the quality of life.”

“AUPC 2007 will primarily focus on the exploration of our experiences in vertical imaginations and put forth new urban planning and development models to suit the requirements of the city’s unique environment.”

In his speech, Mr. Mohammed A. Bin Omair Al Muhairi, Head of Planning and Survey Dept and Head of AUPC Committee said, “The idea of the AUPC has developed over a long period of time and the organizing committee has been preparing for the event ever since. It is the first event of its kind to be organized in the Emirate of Ajman and will provide an eye on the best practices from the Middle East and other parts of the world. In addition to keynote speeches by experts and carefully planned discussions there will be a lot of opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing with professionals from around the globe.”
