Moussa: Egypt Supports a Solution to the Cyprus Problem

Egypt supports a solution to the Cyprus problem based on  

UN resolutions, Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said in Cairo late Thursday after a half-hour meeting with Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides at his hotel in Cairo, reported Cyprus News Agency (CAN)  

Speaking after his meeting with President Clerides, who is on a six-day private visit to Egypt, Moussa said they discussed the Cyprus problem, the negative developments in Palestine-Israeli relations and other issues relating to the Mediterranean region. 

Clerides had met earlier in the day with President Hosni Mubarak in Sharm el Sheikh Red Sea resort. No official statement was issued, according to CAN. 

Cyprus has been divided into two entities since 1974 when the Turkish northern part, backed by the Turkish invading troops, proclaimed independence – Albawaba.com
