An upgraded type of mortar or Katyusha rocket fired from south Lebanon hit a chicken farm in northern Israel Thursday morning, killing many birds, but causing no serious damage or human injuries.
The Israeli army said it was investigating the incident.
Lebanese security officials in south Lebanon said two mortar shells were fired. One fell on the Lebanese side of the border in the town of Meis el-Jabal, and the other in Israel, The Associated Press reported. However, AFP quoted south Lebanese officials as saying three Katyusha rockets fired from Majdal Silm exploded near the Lebanese townships of Meis el-Jabal and Houla, in addition to a rocket that landed in Israel.
