Morocco is due to attend a meeting of the foreign affairs ministers of member countries of the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA), scheduled to begin on Friday in Algiers.
The meeting will be preceded by that of the Maghreban follow-up commission at the level of Secretaries of State.
Morocco will be represented in the Algiers meeting by Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister, Mohamed Benaissa, who will head to the Algerian capital on Thursday, according to the official Maghreb Arabe Presse.
UMA was established in 1989 by Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania. Thus far, the Union has been unable to take off as a full-fledged regional grouping due to differences among member states, MAP added.
Moroccan delegate minister to foreign affairs and cooperation, Taieb Fassi Fihri, said recently that Rabat would participate in the Algiers meeting in a bid to give a new impetus to Maghreban union and overcome problems of Maghreban integration. (Albawaba.com)
