Morocco's Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Taib Fassi Fihri, called upon Spain to clarify its attitude vis-a-vis Morocco and reconsider the way it works and cooperates with Morocco, on the basis of mutual trust and reciprocal respect, according to Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP).
Fihri said that Rabat wants Madrid to clarify its positions and was ready to do the same if Moroccan positions were not clear enough, as claimed by some in Spain.
In addition, he recalled that the Moroccan government had recently noted a number of actions, initiatives and decisions taken by the Spanish government, harming Morocco's national interests.
These attitudes concern the Moroccan Sahara issue, the Spanish-occupied northern towns of Sebta and Melilia, Morocco's sea wealth and the continental plateau off Tarfaya.
He added that Morocco was surprised by this sudden convergence of a series of actions, attitudes, behaviors and statements and decided to recall [last October] its ambassador in an act meant to express Moroccan anger. (Albawaba.com)
