Morocco and the Arab Human Rights Organization have agreed to step up cooperation and support the civil society and government efforts to protect human rights, reported the official Maghrebe Arab Presse (MAP).
The agreement, signed by Morocco's Human Rights Minister Mohamed Aujjar and the organization's secretary general, Mohamed Faiq, seeks to generalize the human rights culture in Morocco, said MAP.
In its 2001 annual report, the London based Amnesty International highlighted several human rights violations in Morocco.
It said that no investigations are known to have been carried out in the cases of disappearance' and arbitrary detention.
"The right to freedom of expression was increasingly violated leading to the imprisonment of prisoners of conscience," adds the report -- Albawaba.com
