Morocco’s trade balance recorded in 2000 a deficit valued at 45 billion DH ($4.28 billion), which is 39.8 percent higher than in 1999, Morocco’s official news agency reported Saturday.
Citing official figures, Morocco’s imports reached in 2000 $11.52b, increasing by 14.3 percent compared to the previous year. Exports only progressed by 3.1 percent to reach $7.22b in 2000.
Moroccan imports were still dominated by crude oil, accounting for 64.5 percent in 2000.
