Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mohammed Benaissa, is expected to meet Wednesday and Friday with European officials, including Romano Prodi, the head of the European Commission over several "important bilateral issues".
Morocco is a neighbor and friend country, and partners never run short of discussion subjects, Prodi's spokesman said recently, according to Maghreb Arabe Presse.
Both parties are also expected to discuss the situation in the Maghreb and political and economic issues, including fisheries, MAP added.
In the course of his visit to Brussels, Benaissa - who was re-appointed as minister of foreign affairs and cooperation – is to meet the European commissioner of foreign affairs, Chris Patten, and the EU high representative for foreign policy, Javier Solana.
The Benaissa-Solana talks will deal with the Morocco-EU partnership, especially the Morocco-EU association accord which aims to set up a Morocco-Europe free trade zone by the year 2010, Solana's spokesman, Cristina Gallach told MAP news agency.
Moreover, the two are to review the situation in the Middle East and developments regarding the Iraqi issue, she added.
Mohammed Benaissa's visit to Brussels was initially scheduled for Tuesday, but was postponed upon a request from the Moroccan side. (Albawaba.com)
