More than half a million Syrian refugees received medical care from the Moroccan Field Surgical Hospital since 2012 in the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan, Morocco's national news agency said this week.

The agency said that 515,476 Syrian refugees received health services from the hospital, including more than 211,000 children and 162,421 women.

The hospital carried out 3,539 surgeries and 888 birth deliveries, including 816 C-sections. It was established by the Moroccan royal army to provide health care for Syrian refugees on the Jordanian-Syrian border

The field hospital started providing its service in 2012 with a capacity of 60 beds and a staff of 100 medical personnel, including 32 doctors.

The Syrian civil war, which is in its fifth year, has seen more than 220,000 people killed and millions displaced.
