Moroccan ambassador to the United Nations, Mohamed Bennouna was elected judge to the International Court of Justice by 158 votes in the General Assembly, and 12 in 15-member Security Council. <i>MAP</i> reports that Bennouna is the first Moroccan to be elected judge to the United Nation' judicial body. Bennouna will start his duty in the Hague in February 2006 along with four other new elected judges from the United States, Mexico, New Zealand and Russia. Five new judges of the Hague Court will serve for a nine-year term.
