MODON allocates the first factory in Jeddah 2nd. Industrial City

The largest industrial unit for PepsiCo in the Middle East and Africa with an investment estimated at one billion riyals

Under the auspices of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Governor of Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region, H.E. Dr. Tawfig bin Fawzan Alrabiah, the Director General of MODON signed allocation contract for the first industrial project in Jeddah 2nd. Industrial City for an area equal to 300,000 square meters for the project of Saudi Industrial Projects company (Pepsi Cola - Bugshan). From the company’s side, the contract was signed by its General Manager Salim Bin Ahmed Bugshan; the project is the largest industrial unit for PepsiCo in the Middle East and Africa and its investment in the project is close to one billion riyals. The company will transfer its projects and factories to Jeddah 2nd Industrial City for the production of soft drinks and juices, healthy water, gas water cylinders and cans manufacturing.

The patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, may God preserve him, for the signing ceremony comes in his continued interest in and care for the efforts and projects of MODON in the development of the industrial cities in Jeddah, Makkah and Taif.
 
MODON has attracted hundreds of applications for Jeddah 2nd. Industrial City, where the development started eight months ago, and the start of the allocation of land in the city is considered as an achievement in a record time. MODON’s interest in the establishment of new industrial cities comes to meet the increasing demands for industrial lands to keep up with the development taking place in various fields in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

On this occasion, Dr. Alrabiah announced that the investments for the development of the two phases of Jeddah 2nd. Industrial City will be one billion and seven hundred thousand riyals, where MODON has contracted with a national contracting company to implement a development project for the first phase of 3.5 million square meters in Jeddah 2nd. Industrial City. Furthermore, MODON had tendered  on (BOT) system, a usufruct project for the construction, development and operation, management and maintenance of  drinking water, industrial irrigation water, sanitation and industrial discharge and its return to Jeddah 2nd. Industrial City. Few weeks ago a project to develop the second phase of Jeddah 2nd. MODON has committed to provide the required services, electricity, high-speed communication (Smart City), water, roads, central cooling and any other services needed by the industrial projects in Jeddah 2nd. Industrial City. The Saudi Industrial Projects company (PepsiCo) will be the first client for the central cooling and water project. The  company’s consumption of water provided by MODON is estimated at 13,220 m³ /day.

It is worth mentioning that MODON among a series of development projects and construction of new industrial cities, tendered last week, development projects of new industrial cities namely: Zulfi Industrial City, Gurayaat Industrial City and today it tendered a project for developing Taif Industrial City and shortly the Sudair Industrial City will be tendered too.

Dr. Alrabiah added that MODON currently oversees 18 existing industrial cities in the various regions of the Kingdom (Riyadh 1 & 2, Jeddah 1 & 2, Dammam 1 & 2, Makkah, Qassim, Ahsa, Madinah, Assir, Al Jouf, Tabuk, Hail, Najran, Al-Kharj, Jazan and Ar’ar). The investment in these cities exceeds 200 billion riyals whereas more than 300 thousand workers are employed in these cities.
