Modhesh World attracts 11,000 visitors as Hag E Laila celebrated with splendour and fanfare

Families from across UAE gathered at Modhesh World on July 26 to celebrate the 15th of the Islamic month of Sha'ban, popularly known as Hag e Laila. Around 11,000 visitors turned up to celebrate the occasion.

Little girls dressed in traditional wear, hair decked with glittering headdresses welcomed guest by dabbing traditional Arabic perfume. Children received goody bags with authentic Arabic goodies along with sweet treats from sponsors.

A number of government bodies joined hands to add to the celebrations. The government zones were decked up with special activities to commemorate the occasion. Sweet treats were also offered to children where ever they went at each zone in keeping with the traditions.

Dubai Civil Defense gave away lots of gifts and sweets to visitors while the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities gave out the traditional offering of the occasion - candy and nuts. The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai, the Department of Archaeological Sites, as well as Dubai Customs gave gifts and sweets to all. The Sheikha Latifa Award gave away gifts to the children.

Celebrations began as early as 12 noon with the Modhesh School of Surprises show followed by the Hip Hop Kids show at the main stage. Both shows received an overwhelming response from the audience. Roaming acts like the Yellow Speed Team and Clown Balloon Maker enthralled visitors with their acts.

Members of the Modhesh Friends' Club were then the centre of attraction as they put up a series of outstanding performances. The highlight of their performance was a folkdance which they performed attired in traditional wear.

The Department for Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities organized an insightful lecture on the importance of the fifteenth of Sha'ban. This was followed by a series of questions for the audience with amazing prizes for those who gave the right answers.

Modhesh also joined in the celebrations with his team and made the day complete for the visitors with his charming performance.

Nutro distributed large quantities of biscuits and sweet treats to the visitors of Modhesh World. Continental Links, which set up a toy booth, gave away toys as gifts in large numbers to the visitors. The Horse and Camel Riding and Mini Zoo also gave away gifts to children.
