ALBAWABA- Air traffic at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport was temporarily halted on Friday after a missile launched from Yemen triggered sirens across Jerusalem and the greater Tel Aviv area, according to Israel’s Channel 12 and an official military statement.
The Israeli army confirmed that the projectile, fired from Yemen, set off air raid alerts in central regions, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
The Home Front Command also reported the sirens, and Israeli media later confirmed that the missile was intercepted in mid-air.
Footage circulating on social media showed what appeared to be an interception attempt over the Givat Samwil settlement in occupied Jerusalem. No casualties or damage have been reported so far.
This missile launch comes just two days after Israeli airstrikes targeted Sana’a International Airport in Yemen, reportedly destroying the last functioning Yemeni Airlines aircraft and rendering the airport inoperable.
In response to the Israeli attack on Sana’a, the Houthi movement in Yemen vowed retaliation and reaffirmed its support for Gaza.
The group pledged to impose air and maritime sanctions on Israel as long as what they called "Israeli atrocities" against Palestinians continue.
