A minor earthquake with the magnitude of 3.7 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale hit Tuesday morning the northeastern city of Tabas in the Yazd province.

The seismological base of the Yazd province registered the epicenter of the tremor 60 kilometers to the east of Tabas at 08:04 [local time], IRNA reported.

No report about damages or casualties have been received thus far.

Several tremors have struck Tabas in recent months without any property damage or casualties. At least 25,000 people were killed in an earthquake, which struck Tabas in September 16, 1978.

Iran is one of the most quake-prone countries in the world and mild tremors have become almost a daily occurrence. (Albawaba.com)
