Tables lined up along the mall's aisles display the results of painstaking work and culinary brilliance by chefs vying for coveted titles in their categories.
Contests such as pastry showpiece, cake decoration, and four-plate dessert are popular among all visitors with chefs employing all their artistic creativity and experience to impress the jury. Ice carving is also popular with visitors as chef artists chisel away on ice blocks to create nearly impossible structures, sometimes precariously balanced, highlighting their mastery in sculpting.
The Middle East Junior Chef of the Year 2010 will be awarded on June 29 when the Junior Chef of the Year will be chosen and category winners honoured with medals. The contest is a signature event of Dubai Summer Surprises.
