The National Company for Health Insurance Management (Nathealth) has embarked for the first time on using IT for serving its clients through a new electronic system developed by the leading regional programming company, Soft Ideal, according to the company’s officials.
The system is based on “artificial intelligence,” which operates independently using an intelligent card and the Internet to deal with clients' financial transactions.
The general manager of Nathealth, Samir Gammo, told Albawaba.com in Amman that the intelligent card system will enable the beneficiaries to make use of the health services provided by the company in Jordan, Lebanon, UAE, Malaysia, and in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries in the future.
The manager said that the system will enable every beneficiary to review his health record from any part of the world, as the company will introduce a special coded web page with a user name and a password. This will be provided to every participant including his photo and all the necessary personal information in addition to integrating his medical record and visits to the medical clinics. This will facilitate the follow-up of the subscribers’ health conditions wherever they go and whatever medical clinics they seek treatment in.
Gammo added that his company has developed the health claims management system by using a database and managed to apply such system by using the international coding system that helps both the company and clients benefit from the modern technology revolution.
With the introduction of the new system, Nathealth tries to overcome one of the main problems which has led to heavy financial losses over the past few years due to some ineligible persons using the health cards of their friends or relatives for treatment. There has been no mechanism that would help Nathealth to define the beneficiaries’ identities particularly with their number now reaching 100,000 in Jordan, said the top executive.
Among the other factors that contributed to the company losses is the lack of a mechanism that would help Nathealth in controlling the extra medical measures which doctors may require during the time of the claim and not afterwards.
The lack of an effective program to cope up with a large number of medical claims in the event of expansion has also been a factor.
The company looks forward to establishing a center whose management depends on the most modern technologies to serve as a base for a very strong and competitive start at the regional and international levels. Nathealth plans to extend its operations to other Arab and Asian countries such as Malaysia in the near future.
