middle east’s first trading arcade – dubaiptg – appoints chief operating officer
Veteran UK trader to oversee risk management and mentor new traders from ME region
Dubai Professional Trading Group (DubaiPTG), the Middle East’s first trading arcade, today announced the appointment of Kevin Day as Chief Operating Officer. A veteran trading manager, Day will be responsible for overseeing risk management and technology for Dubai’s first trading arcade, while mentoring new Middle East-based traders.
“As DubaiPTG is the region’s first foray into the trading sector, we needed senior management who are seasoned traders themselves as well as proficient at managing other traders whilst running the operation,” said James Hume, Chairman of DubaiPTG. “Kevin has more than a decade of experience in both practical and supervisory trading experience, which will be a boon to both new and existing traders seeking to work from our arcade in Dubai.”
Prior to joining DubaiPTG, Day worked as a Trading Manager at the Curvalue Group. In his previous role, he was responsible for full project lifecycle planning, analyzing costs and deadlines, and supporting the risk team. Day has firsthand expertise in controlling the trading risk for forty traders with strict position limits and constantly assessing risk potential in a dynamic market environment – experience that will be invaluable to the new DubaiPTG operation.
“Kevin’s diverse background and previous experience brings on board an in-depth and competent understanding of the trading business and the level of seniority and vigor required for the post of COO,” added Hume.
Day’s global trading experience includes stints in Australia - where he traded equity derivatives on the SFE - and Europe, where he was responsible for raising awareness of new business opportunities, notably oil futures trading, available to traders whilst also offering education and support to local risk managers.
“In addition to managing the experienced traders, Kevin will also be mentoring new traders to ensure that their business plans are up to standard,” said Benedict Floyd, Executive Director of DubaiPTG.
Day’s career highlights also include time at Kas Clearing Agent, Dean Witter Securities, Yamaichi Securities and San Paulo di Torino, as well as 14 years proprietary trading experience.
