Job seekers eager to experience ‘Where Research Goes to Work’
Job seekers were eager to learn more about how to set up their own technology business and to work with Qatar’s best researchers as they met with experts from Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) at this week’s Qatar Career Fair.
Providing advice at QSTP’s stand were Qatar Businessmen Association economist Ahmed El-Shafee and Executive Entrepreneurship Certificate Program leader Dr. George White of Carnegie Melon University, among other experts from Qatar Science & Technology Park.
Visitors were able to learn more about the opportunities available at QSTP, including becoming the employer, not the employee, through their entrepreneurship training program.
Qatari graduate, Hassan Al Ibrahim, said he visited QSTP at the fair to learn more about starting his own technology company in Qatar.
“As a Computer Engineering graduate, I have been interested in QSTP for some time and I hope to apply for the entrepreneurship training program down the track,” he said.
“I think it’s great that QSTP are supporting young people, helping us to build the companies and technologies that will shape Qatar in the future.”
Also among the crowd at the QSTP stand was Mohamed Salah Deep Dalloul, a mechanical engineering student at Qatar University.  His interest was in QSTP’s many research partners who are setting up cutting-edge technology centres in the Science Park, including Shell, Microsoft, Shell, GE, EADS and ExxonMobil.
“I’m expecting to graduate next year and I’m very interested in research; something which is very new to Qatar,” he said.
“The prospect of being in a team that develops new technology to improve the industry that I’m in is very attractive,” he said.
